About Me

Hi, my name is Andrew Rohs, but my friends call me AmberEyes. I'm 19, live in Cincinnati, Ohio, in the USA, and am interested in level design. I've been doing level design for many years now - I started with Wolfenstein 3D, and have made levels for almost every engine used in First Person Shooter games. My favorite engine to design in is the Unreal Engine - I like it's mixture of ease of use, as well as it's ability to create extremely complex effects once you figure out how to get the most out of the engine. However, I have also mapped for the Wolfenstein 3D engine and it's relatives (such as Rise Of The Triad), the Doom engine and it's relatives (Heretic, Hexen, etc), the Build engine and it's relatives (Duke3D, Blood, Shadow Warrior, Redneck Rampage, etc), a little bit of editing in the Quake engines (from Quake 1 to Quake 3), a little bit of editing in the LithTech Engine (Blood2, Shogo, etc), and of course the Unreal engine and it's variants (such as Rune, and Deus Ex). However, as I stated before, the Unreal engine is my forte. In fact, if someone wanted me to make a level in Quake for them, I don't even know if I remember how without a refresher course. But, at least it's fun to say that you've mapped for that many different engines.

In addition to level design, I am also interested in computer programming - in 1999, I took a course on Visual Basic and C++ in the short time I was at my university, and expanded on those and am now teaching myself how to use both of them. I also taught myself some simple UnrealScript program language, which I used in a modification I made called UnrealQuake, and am learning HTML as well.

I'm also working with Peekaboo Software and helping them make several games for them. Provided they get funding, I have a steady job there. Good news for me. I am also currently designing a game.

If you want to talk with me, send me an email.

I'm hosting this webpage with Dreamhost, who are a pretty inexpensive web-hosting company for being commercial. So far, they've given me no problems, my account was set up quickly and easily, and I'm very pleased that they are hosting me.

Enough about me though - this website is for my art....
